New Delhi: Demanding stringent laws and action against rapists, animal rights' activist and senior BJP leader Maneka Gandhi on Saturday called for a Special Session of the Parliament and said that the victim died in India but government sent her to Singapore.
“Nirbhaya (imaginary name of victim) died in India but the government sent her to Singapore. The government is playing game, Parliament could have been easily reconvened for a day” – she tweeted.
The leader also said that she has no hope from the Congress and slammed its way of dealing with the crime against women.
The victim, who was admitted to the well-known multi-organ transplant facility Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore in an extremely critical condition on Thursday morning, breathed her last at 4:45 AM (2:15 AM India time). Earlier, she had undergone treatment at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
The 23-year-old victim was brutally beaten and raped by six men on a moving bus in Delhi on December 16. She was left with severe multiple intestinal, abdominal and other injuries.
