Fatality at Lidcombe, trains delayed, Some died at the Lidcombe station .

There was a Fatality at Lidcombe station today. Someone jumped in front of the train . The trains were delayed for the whole evening . I am not sure who was the person who died . My Thoughts are with his family . I could see everyone furious that the trains are running late and they can not reach home on time . But hardly someone would have thought about the person who actually died at the station, that person will never make back to home . May God bless his/her soul in heaven.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow--

You may succeed with another blow,

Success is failure turned inside out--

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Suicide is accomplished by throwing oneself directly in front of an oncoming train, or driving a car onto the tracks.Suicide by train impact has resulted in a 90% death rate, making it one of the most fatal suicide methods. Failed attempts may result in profound injuries, such as massive fractures, amputations, concussion and severe mental and physical handicapping.

Also this afternoon, after the Lidcombe one, there was also another one at Westmead, where a person had jumped infront of the train, killing him instantly.
R.I.P unknown man/woman !

I was on a train that was delayed for an hour by the fatality at Lidcombe station but nobody was furious, not one comment was made in anger. But, nor was there any comment of sympathy either. I was as as detached as the rest. Strange society we live in these days.

Are you serious !! i got my train from westmead aroun 5:30 pm there was nothing at time . why people are doing this !! its so Sad ending life like this.

RIP to whoever it was. I saw on Facebook a girl make a comment that the person was "selfish, stupid and ungrateful" for what they did and the delay they caused commuters, which broke my heart. That was a person, a human being, and like you said while the people on the trains will be delayed in arriving home, someone hasn't made it home tonight to their family or loved ones. They are no less significant than anyone else.

Thanks for the response peeps, it's good to know there are others who have similar thoughts to mine.

Sadly, suicide is very selfish and all those showing sympathy for the person who did it show no sympathy for the driver of the train who may be traumatised for life and not able to resume work nor for the emergency services who have to attend, the railway maintenance staff who have to clean up the train when it returns to the depot or the bystanders who witnessed it.

By all means, have some sympathy for someone who commits suicide but it shouldn't stop there.

May she rest in peace. We love you Lisa xxxx

If it was their family member it would be a different response. She has a huge loving family and we miss her dearly.

Yes it affected the people on the train today. But it has affected her family. We love her and now we have to live everyday without her here.

well theres conflicting stories i was on a train from liverpool that left at 4:30 we got to redfern at about 6:30 I guess. The one of city rail staff what happened, the man at the ticket gate. He said there was a woman standing on the edge of the platform with her back to the train and the train hit her. So I said she must have been right on the edge, seems impossible, because of the gap between the platform and the train. so he probably said it wrong and she was standing on the tracks with her back to the train

Suicide: a permanent solution to a temporary problem...

May she rest in peace and condolences to her family. May God give them the courage and guide them through this difficult phase.

While I understand that in today's world we do not see much sympathy around, I do not think it is fair to say people are getting angry just because they are not able to reach home in time. There were people who had to reach day care centres in time to pick up 3 and 5 year olds - guess it is understandable if they were frustrated

I feel bad for the family and friends and the train driver, and the witnesses. I don't feel bad for the person. Couldn't care less. If they had mental illness such as congenital depression, well that's just tough luck. If they're one of those sulky, whinging, emotionally fragile, think skinned sad people, i have absolutely no sympathy. Life is tough, life is hard. If youre stupid life is even harder.

RIP Lisa, You were a beautiful, intelligent woman with so much success in your life. You have left many asking why.
May you find peace in eternity.

You seem to be a very positive person Harpreet. It was encouraging to read your post and the poem "Don't Quit"...
My sympathies to the loved ones of Lisa and humble prayer for her. It is not easy to end one's life but she chose to, she did not see any other way out of whatever problem she was facing.
so that it never happens to our loved ones, we should keep checking on our friends and family...a warm hug from a person you care can solve many problems. Mrs. Maan

she could have jumped off a building. i could have reached home on time, not 1 1/2 hours late............

Such sad news, my sympathies to the family and those left behind to deal with this stupidity, seriously... next time people want to commit? jump into a volcano or a black hole or something... volcano be laughin'!

Are you people serious? People who kill themselves like that are just for attention seeking. And all those who says may god bless. Seriously if god exist such thing will not happen. That girl committed suicide and cost tax payer train operation money. Put others in shock. And was more tax money cleaning up. People like this should just go do it in places that doesn't affect others.

Anonymous said...

So was the train okay?

Anonymous said...

Wow. To suggest another form of suicide that wont seem to affect you...dont you think thats going overboard? Your comment screams out selfishness.

We're sellfish? Nah hardly. my mate works at the fish market... Now he really sells fish. However, the gold medal winning fish seller is the person who pole volted onto the tracks. Now there's a world class fish seller.

I definitely don't feel sorry for the selfish suicidal person who has not only killed themself but has now ruined the lives of those whi witnessed this selfish act especially the driver of the train. This one selfish person also ruined thousands of commuters evenings disrupting the whole of cityrail services from out west to south west to the city even resulting in delays to the central coast lines. If you're depressed, suicidal or angry at the world you have the right to get help and better yourself, you do not have the right to affect people you don't know in such a horrible way. Suicide= pure selfishness

I feel incredibly sorry for their family and friends. I can't imagine the pain that they go through. But I also agree that suicide should never happen at the expense of others. The poor train drivers, the ones that hit them - they will never get over this. They will feel responsible. And a part of their lives will forever be wrecked. If suicide is ever an option, and I wholeheartedly believe it ISN'T, no-one should EVER force someone else to be responsible for it.

To all the people that want to pass judgement onto my family member, fuck you!

I seriously hope that no one in your family ever feels the need to do this because at the end of the day it is a life lost, you may have lost your precious time getting home from work, but she felt that she lost her life.

Also it is not proven that it is a suicide, so until there are facts, shut the fuck up!

How could we have known that behind that dazzling smile something more than any of us could comprehend was torturing you to this point.
My heart is aching in the spot where our memories were made and will no longer grow.
I always thought we would have tomorrow to catch up, but I guess tomorrow is just yesterdays today and your journey has come to an end.
Lisa-Maree with the face of an angel join them now in a place where you belong.

I will have to agree with some of you.. Suicide is selfish..its different to drown urself or whatever, but to make someone else feel responsible is mean..the poor train driver..may he/she be able to get over it one day..the poor witnesses.. Death is easy shit..life is the challenge..if u didnt wanna take the challenge thats fine..but why ruin life for other people with ur choices.

I honestly tried to, but I couldn't. Sorry DGAF.

You people know nothing and have no perception or insight or even respect to the family or friends who could read such ignorant, ridiculously inconsiderate comments about the death of a person. A life is life and whether it be taken by cancer, another illness or accident, old age or suicide is sad for the person is still suffering on the inside. There are other mental illnesses besides depression too and if you have never suffered depression to its deepest darkest extent you have no right to pass judgement on what it leads a despairing victim to the illness to do. People with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have psychotic episodes where they kill themselves unable to control their actions at all. Whilst not knowing any of the people who ended their own lives last night and what their reason may be .... selfish is making comments that disrespect and judge a person and their choice on what you do not know. What if it was you who had to receive the phone call some time after to say your loved one or a close friend was that person who had died ? You are all idiots who call suicide selfish. You have nothing to base your judgements on anyway.

We all have times when we want to give up on life...sometime life brings us to a point where we start thinking wht life is all about why i am still alive and living with all this pain...we think we are the only one suffering from so much pain and the rest of the world is happy . its nothing like that we all go through different phases of life ...but some of us are strong and some give up too early....i just want to say no matter how bad or hard situation you are in or going through there will always be a way to come out of it ... you can do it ..you the only person who can do it bring your self out of all the problems...!!

Suicide screams out selfishness, not this persons comment.

I bet you're another freak pretending to be related to the selfish suicidal person. Footage on cityrail cameras prove it was a suicide and I have family members in the railways that confirm it.

Anonymous said...

you are absolutely right Rebecca ..i totally agree with youe point of view.

What if she wanted to rest peacefully... What if she had many bad things happen in her life? You can't go off saying things like I was late for so long blah blah... Everyone was late. If you think she's selfish then at least think about the people who could have been traumatized by this. A few puny hours whatsoever doesn't kill you.

She was my friend...she was always happy...she was always looking for answers...she was always looking for strength from me...she was far braver than I will ever be...Lisa-Maree I hope you found what you need to be at peace...I love you!

Sorry to be harsh, but my thoughts go to the train driver who idiots like these have sentenced to a life time of trauma.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you that the driver of that train will never be able to have a normal life after that trauma...but its also a lesson from us to learn that no matter when where how much difficult life become dun just opt on the option of giving up as it might take you out of the problems but it will leave every person related to you in trauma. they can never live peacefully again just thinking wht they cold have done different to save you from giving up .....lucky the people who born with no disability and still they cant face the challenges given to them by different phases of life .....think about ppl who born disabled they can never over come there disability but still they dun kill them self ...they want to live.

I doubt that her family / friends have come to this website but if they have, why? You have to know that people on the internet are going to say horrible things about the one you love.

I have mental illness myself and I know sometimes you can't think straight or realise what the effects your death will have on other people; but I feel terrible for the witnesses and driver, the emergency dept who collected her body and washed the blood off the tracks. She is gone but they have to live with it forever, its not fair. I was a commuter and when I heard it flared up my own mental illness. I felt sick and scared and when I finally got home I started scratching myself, my partner had to hold my arms and then I broke down. My partner spent a long time trying to get me to stop crying. I didn't know her, it just acted as a trigger on my own problems. Suicide affects everyone from a large scale (family, friends, witnesses) right down to the small end of the scale (innocent commuters just trying to go about their day).

If you are suicidal please seek help, don't lose your life and seriously change the lives of those around you.

Dear Family of Lisa, I wish you strength in your sorrow. I wish peace for Lisa. I sat on Strathfield Station waiting for a train, everyone was calm around me. They were sorry for the loss of life. An Asian lady and I sat together and prayed, Eternal Rest, grant unto her , O Lord, and let perpetual Light shine upon her. May she rest in peace, Amen. May the train driver find courage to drive again, and may people accept the mystery of life and death.

It's funny how some of you fools hide behind your 'Anonymous' name.... If you know so much you should go by your real names and stop hiding behind your iphones or computer screens.

You don't know the deceased and will never know how beautiful and smart she was. A true angel....

She touched the lives of so many people she met in her life. Her presence will be missed forever. If you knew her you would understand my argument.

To the fool that knows people that work for City rail, let me tell you that your "friends or family" know nothing. So you should keep your comments to yourself.

Everyone has their opinion... but if it was someone close to them, how the tables would turn.
You dont know and never will know what it is like to loose someone this way. I just hope you never have to experience this in your life time... if you do then you will remember this blog and understand what the deceased family and friends are going through.
